Pennwood Students Tackle Math Challenges |
|
Pennwood Middle School Assistant Principal, Derek Majikas, (center) stages an annual "Math Problems of the Week" series for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Each week, a math problem is posted in the student dining room. The problems are challenging, and they usually involve some aspect of Pennwood. Students have the option to participate and answer the questions. Solutions to problems are videotaped and displayed during the school's morning announcements on closed-circuit TV. At the end of April and the end of May, students from each grade level who answer the questions correctly with supporting work are chosen at random to receive prizes.
