SUMMER READING PROGRAM
|
Dear Students, Parents and Guardians: The more we read, the better readers we become. Students who read actively and often and widely:
To encourage and reward students' reading outside the classroom, the Charles Boehm, Pennwood and William Penn Middle Schools have developed a Summer Reading Program. Students will have the opportunity to earn extra credit by reading the following number of books:
We have created a bookmark that students must complete when they are finished reading each of their books. The bookmarks will be collected by the students' teachers and extra credit will be awarded only if the students read the total number of books required. There are extra bookmarks available on the web site, at the BC Free Libraries, and in local bookstores. In order to promote reading proficiency, extensive reading must occur throughout the summer. Our goal is to make reading a "habit of heart and mind" so that our students become the most capable and enthusiastic readers they can be. Choice, Choice, Choice! Students may read any book that is of interest to them. We have also included links to other summer reading activities that parents or students may wish to check out. Enjoy the summer and get into a good book! We wish you and your family a happy and productive summer.
