Head Injury Presentation
Mandatory Concussion Awareness Program and Impact Testing for Athletes
PA passed legislation effective July 1, 2012 requiring all student-athletes to receive concussion and head injury information prior to the start of their season. Additionally, most student-athletes will also be tested using Impact. This will be a baseline test to be used if the athlete sustains a head injury during the season. We have been using this test for the past two years and it will be expanded this year. We have partnered with St Mary Hospital and Bucks County IU to provide a Powerpoint presentation and help administer the Impact testing.
All prospective winter athletes and all coaches are required to report to Keller Hall at PHS West on Thursday, November 6 by 2:30 pm.
No student may try out or begin practice without having been to this presentation. Anyone who is not present will be required to view a makeup session at a later date. Students who attended the program in August or prior to participating in a Fall 2014 sport are not required to attend this session.
Parents are recommended to attend and the community is invited to attend this presentation.
