Head Injury Presentation
Mandatory Concussion Awareness Program and Impact Testing for Athletes-August 5, 2014
PA passed legislation effective July 1, 2012 requiring all student-athletes to receive concussion and head injury information prior to the start of their season. Additionally, most student-athletes will also be tested using Impact. This will be a baseline test to be used if the athlete sustains a head injury during the season. We have been using this test for the past two years and it will be expanded this year. We have partnered with St Mary Hospital and Bucks County IU to provide a Powerpoint presentation and help administer the Impact testing.
All prospective Fall sport athletes and coaches are requested to report to Keller Hall on Tuesday August 5 at 11:00 am.
After the informational session, ALL football players and Cheerleaders (incoming grades 9- 12) will take the Impact test.
NOTE: soccer, volleyball, and JV/Var field hockey will take the Impact test during the first week of their preseason camps.
Coaches must be present with their teams for both the test and the presentation. Coaches will act as room proctors during the Impact testing. All coaches are also required by law to complete a head injury recognition test prior to beginning practice. No student may try out or begin practice without having been to this presentation. Anyone who is not present will be required to view a makeup session at a later date.
Parents are recommended to attend and the community is invited to attend this presentation.
