Please read this important notice regarding pickup and dropoff of students at the beginning and end of the school day.

Please keep in mind that the procedures in this letter are to remain in place sun, rain or snow. Walkers are entering and exiting the school through the rear side entrance until further notice.

SAFETY FIRST

As a result of ongoing safety concerns at

Edgewood Elementary School , new traffic patterns for pick up and drop off of students will be in effect the first day of school.

Despite additional notices, barricades, more adults posted outside at arrival and dismissal, unsafe driving practices have continued in our parking lot. These include driving over the island, making u-turns in the drop off lane, driving across the field and leaving the parking lot once the buses have arrived and children are being dismissed.

Once again we will have 10 buses and a variety of Day Care Vans entering and leaving Edgewood on a daily basis. To ensure that all children and adults are safe,

Edgewood Parking Lot will now be

“CAR-FREE”

8:30 to 9:00 AM and 3:20 to 4:00 PM daily .

Only Pennsbury buses and day care vans will be permitted to enter the parking lot. We encourage ALL students who are bus riders to ride the bus to and from school. These students will be delivered right to the front door of the school. (By utilizing your bus riding privileges the amount of traffic on Edgewood and Oxford Valley Roads will be reduced and you will be helping the environment.)

If you drop off or pick up your child by car or your child is a walker, the new procedures and entrance are outlined below. Please share this information with all adults who may provide car transportation for your child.

• Drop off will now be on Oxford Valley Road.
• Students should only exit the car on the sidewalk.
• If students are on the opposite side to the street as the school, please direct your child to cross with the Crossing Guard.
• If your child is dropped off on the school side of the street, school safeties and adults will direct your child to the rear-side entrance of the building (near the modulars.) This entrance will be used until further notice.
• The side parking lot will also be CAR FREE during the aforementioned times of day in order for your child to walk safety into school.
