Charles Boehm Students took part in a new and exciting addition to their curriculum this month. Miss Myer's 8th grade classes embarked on an entrepreneurship project. The project included students making applesauce cupcakes that they were going to sell to their fellow students. The students not only made and decorated the cupcakes, but they also had to market their projects by making posters to hang around the building and advertise by making commercials to air on the morning announcements. Students wrote, directed, and starred in both commercials. They made all of the major decisions including the cost of their product, the color of their icing and sprinkles, and how many cupcakes they wanted to make. After selling the products the classes discussed financial terms and calculated if they made a profit or not. Each 8th grade class will be partaking in this unit, but will make different products each marking period. The students loved the project and the other students of the school loved the end result…the cupcakes.
