Quarry Hill Elementary Students Take a "Read-cess"

Students in grades K-5 at Quarry Hill Elementary School had the opportunity to take 15 minutes to read selected books during a "read-cess" in their school hallways on Read Across America Day, according to Reading Specialist, Krista Schmidt. Another way the school marked Dr. Seuss' birthday this year was to have a "mystery reader" share excerpts from a Dr. Seuss book during the morning announcements so that students could guess the name of the reader and the book. Prizes -- provided by the Student Council -- were awarded for each grade level. Pennsbury Reading and Language Arts Curriculum Coordinator, Mary Ellen Lane, helped kick off a special home reading assignment for students after an assembly on Dr. Seuss.
