Oxford Valley Elementary Students Launch the "Litterless Lunch"

With the help of a grant from Waste Management (a Pennsbury Partner), first and fourth grade students at Oxford Valley Elementary received customized, reusable lunch bags and food containers to cut down on all of the litter generated at lunch time. A special assembly organized by OV teachers, Heather Ryan, Cherie Lynne Kooker, and Education Technology Specialist, Julie Samples, gave students an opportunity to meet Judy Archibald (center), a representative from Waste Management, and to learn more about recycling and minimizing waste. To reinforce the importance of the "litterless lunch," a sample pileup of lunch trash was exhibited onstage. This grant-funded project tied in with multiple school activities connected with Earth Day celebrations across the country.
